Favourite Wedding Songs To Walk Down The Aisle For 2011

Imagine this: The day, the moment and the hour has arrived on your very special day. Your guests are seated and your Fiance is eagerly awaiting you at the end of the aisle! The music starts and you make your grand entrance…. But what song will it be? Are you a traditionalist, getting married in a church or outdoors, or do you want something fresh and modern to walk down the aisle too? If your answer is “I don’t know” then here is some ideas for you.

If you are looking at doing a more traditional wedding in a church and you don’t want the traditional “Here comes the Bride” (Wagner’s, “Bridal Chorus”) or something classical while you are walking down the aisle then you will need to contact your Priest, Pastor or other officient to get confirmation that this will be ok.

Here are some traditional songs that you may like to have a look at:

  1. “Procession of Joy” (Hal Hopson)
  2. “Spring” (from The Four Seasons), (Antonio Vivaldi)
  3. “Canon in D” (Johann Pachelbel)
  4. “Air” (from Water Music Suite), (George F. Handel)
  5. “Trumpet Voluntary” (Jeremiah Clarke)
  6. “Bridal Chorus” (from Lohengrin), (Richard Wagner)
  7. “Te Deum” (Marc-Antoine Charpentier)
  8. “The Prince of Denmark’s March” (Jeremiah Clarke)
  9. “Wedding March” (from The Marriage of Figaro), (Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart)
  10. “Rigaudon” (Andre Campra)

On the other hand if you are looking at an outdoors ceremony or at a non religious venue the musical world is your oyster! Here is a list of the top 20 voted most popular wedding songs to walk down the aisle too:

  1. “At Last” (Etta James)
  2. “You and Me” (Lifehouse)
  3. “Unchained Melody” (Righteous Brothers)
  4. “Can’t Help Falling In Love” (Elvis Presley)
  5. “From This Moment” (Shania Twain)
  6. “My Girl” (Temptations)
  7. “Making Memories Of Us” (Keith Urban)
  8. “Have I Told You Lately” (Rod Stewart)
  9. “Heaven” Slow Version (DJ Sammy)
  10. “Stand By Me” (Ben E. King)
  11. “What A Wonderful World” (Louis Armstrong)
  12. “Unforgettable” (Natalie Cole with Nat King Cole)
  13. “(Everything I Do) I Do It For You” (Bryan Adams)
  14. “Come Away With Me” (Norah Jones)
  15. “When A Man Loves A Women” (Michael Bolton)
  16. “Air” (Rihana)
  17. “You’re Beautiful” (James Blunt
  18. “All I Want Is You” (U2)
  19. “Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I’m Yours)” (Stevie Wonder)
  20. “Your Beautiful” (James Blunt)

There are so many choices these are just a few of the more popular songs.  Some Brides are even going along the lines of “I Got A Feelin” by Black Eye Peas or Byonce to make their grand entrance.

Choose a song that reflects your personalities and the theme of your wedding. On the day you will just want to get to your Fiance but take the time to enjoy every step to him!

Wedding Cakes

Looks incredible, tastes delicious!

The traditional wedding cake still makes an appearance every now and then. Today however, pretty much anything goes! Whatever your mind can conceive of can probably be made by your local wedding cake shop.

Some practicalities to consider in choosing your cake:

Wedding Cake Size & Shape

How many wedding guests are you expecting? Will there be people unable to attend that you would like to save some cake for? Come up with an accurate number to determine the size of your wedding cake. Round or square cakes are more likely to serve a larger number of guests and will be easy for your caterers to cut up. If you’re going for a more creative shape, make sure they’ll be enough wedding cake for everybody.

Wedding Cake Design

Wedding magazines and online wedding directories provide ample ideas for your cake design. Visit a few local wedding cake shops and bakers to see their style and examples of previous work. Also ask your married friends to recommend a wedding cake shop they have used and liked.

If your wedding is themed, your cake can be designed to match with complimentary colours or flowers similar to your bouquet. Wedding cake designers can even match the lace on your wedding gown.

When visiting your local wedding cake shop, take in a couple of your ideas to get a rough quote for your wedding cake. Remember, the more detailed and intricate your wedding cake design the more expensive it will be.

Wedding Cake Flavour

It looks fantastic… but does it taste good? How many weddings have you been to, and the wedding cake was less then appetizing. What a waste. Today the choice of flavours and combination of flavours is endless. If your fiancé likes chocolate and you like vanilla, you can have both! Or what about a delicious mousse filling! Talk to your baker about what they can do for you.

Ordering In Time

Ideally, book your wedding cake at least three to four months before your wedding. That way you won’t be running around at the last minute looking for a wedding cake shop to fit you in. If they’re a catering business as well, they will already be busy, so allow yourself plenty of time.

Choosing Your Marriage Celebrant

Choosing Your Marriage Celebrant

Anyone will do? Not likely. Choosing the right marriage celebrant to marry you and your loved one is an important decision you won’t want to rush.

Research, ask around for referrals, interview and find one that will help you create a fantastic wedding day for everyone involved.

They don’t just take care of the formalities; they help set the tone of your entire ceremony, one that should reflect your unique personalities and special relationship.

Start by looking for someone who enjoys what they do. This is a sure sign they will make the process enjoyable for you and your husband-to-be and will be adaptable and flexible to your requirements.

You’re also looking for an experienced and knowledgeable wedding celebrant who is a good public speaker and enjoys engaging people with humour and interest to ensure everyone feels welcome and included on your special day.

If you have met a wedding celebrant who is quite adamant about how the ceremony should go, will not adapt to your ideas, is quite opinionated and will charge you for every little extra thing… Run! This person is a nightmare waiting to happen. Remember, they need to understand and appreciate what you want and will create and deliver your personal, special wedding ceremony.

Here’s a checklist of questions to go through as your assess your marriage celebrant’s suitability for the day.

    1. How is their speaking voice? Do they sound good and project well?
    2. Do they provide a PA system?
    3. Do they come across as both professional and approachable?
    4. What is your marriage celebrants’ dress code? Their favourite red mini skirt might clash a little… so find out what their standard dress is and make sure they’re co-ordinated with your wedding day.
    5. Is there celebrant service what you want and need? Do they fit within your budget?
    6. Ask to see their Fee Schedule or get a comprehensive quote (including GST) that covers everything you need.
    7. Are they creative and flexible in their approach? How will they cope with potential last minute change?
    8. Do they have recent testimonials, photos and previous clients you can call and talk to?
    9. My favourite celebrandt is Terry she’s both professional and lovely please give her a call you won’t be disapointed Terri Beirne: http://www.celebrant-lifeaspects.com.au

What’s the Colour Of Your Bridesmaid Dresses?

What’s the Colour Of Your Bridesmaid Dresses?

Your Lovely Bridesmaids
Bridesmaids are a significant part of the wedding party and when it comes to choosing their dresses one of the first thing a bride thinks is: “What colour am I going to have?”

But at the end of the day, when it comes to making your choice it’s about having colours that will suit with the body of the bridesmaids but also tie in with the overall them of your wedding day.

There is a wide range of colors that can be chosen for the bridesmaid dresses but it would be better if one chooses such dresses with colors that will suit with the season and the mood of the wedding party.

Pink
The most common color that is chosen for bridesmaid dresses is pink. The pink color signifies the femininity and it also expresses the innocence of the girls. The pink color bridesmaid dresses will be most suitable for outdoor wedding party settings in the season of springs. If the bridesmaids are a little mature, you may choose different shades of pink such as rum pink that is fine to be used by mature girls.

Black
Black dresses along with white or other light colors (eg. white flowers) give a very elegant feel and a huge contrast from the bride. Most  women look lovely in black dresses and it is considered as the most versatile color. Black dresses and bridesmaid gowns can also be used for other formal occasions after the wedding and is a popular choice for brides today.

Red
Another impressive color for bridesmaid dresses that can be used is Red. Red dresses seem sexier and bold. If you want to tone down the effect of the red, you may choose shorter bridesmaid dresses along with a combination of some light colors. Yet, red doesn’t suit with all girls. Brunettes with brown or olive skin color will find red dresses very attractive for themselves while redheads and blondes may not feel good as they will look a little pale in red dresses.

Purples & Blues
If red is a colour you want to avoid you may consider choosing purple, navy blue or other dark blue shade dresses are a suitable substitute for black bridesmaid dresses. Royal blue or navy blue colors suit most of the women. They give a sophisticate look with a slimming effect. Furthermore, dark blue colors can suitably be used in happy events like wedding ceremonies.

In case you don’t find dark blue color dresses attractive enough, you may choose a green or maroon bridesmaid dresses as they also offer slimming effect while they are considered as the colors of happiness.

Obviously every colour mentioned above comes in different shades, patterns and styles. Pastels are a popular choice today as well.

The main thing to consider is to choose a colour and a dress that you believe will suit the other look and feel of your wedding day, but also keeping in mind whether the colours you do choose suit the complexion of your bridesmaids as you want everyone to feel like a princess on the day.
